It is not easy to hear the voice of God in our modern age of cell phones, broadband internet connections, HD TV, ipods, IM, facebook, twitter, you get the point.
I am returning to a basic pattern of Christian life that I practiced more during my younger days in the faith. I call it the 4 R’s:
1) Receive – receive the Word of God
2) Repent – repent of our sins
3) Refreshed/Renewed/Restored/Reconciled – different ways to describe the effects of grace and forgiveness
4) Respond – God calls clean vessels to respond in obedience to be his hands and feet in this world
My first challenge is cultivating practices which encourage a posture of receiving. Without that, the other 3 R’s will never materialize.
