Here is a quick update from Francis Chan…
This past month has been great for my family and me. It has been filled with a ton of traveling and speaking in Orlando, Daytona, St. Louis, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, Chicago, Indianapolis, and Louisville. Needless to say, I have not been home much.
On Sunday I had the pleasure of preaching at Reality Church in Carpinteria. Please pray for my friend, Britt Merrick, who is the pastor there. His six-year-old daughter is fighting an extremely difficult bout with cancer. Please read more about it at http://prayfordaisy.com. It will give you insight on how Christians ought to deal with difficult situations.
God still has not given my family much clarity on where He wants us to move, but I have complete peace. I do not believe we will know until we get back from our trip overseas. For now, I have really enjoyed teaching God’s Word to crowds as well as to individuals.
Here is a passage that has been on my mind quite a bit over the past few days…
27Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, 28and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God. 29For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, 30engaged in the same conflict that you saw I had and now hear that I still have. Philippians 1:27-30
God wants His children to be fearless and unified. It was good to be reminded of the courage we can have in Christ. In a world filled with criticism and gossip, let’s seek to build up our brothers and sisters. Let’s encourage one another to live boldly, as this is the “sign” that shows the world we are saved!
