We spent a good amount of time at our last Bible Study trying to compare the 1) mindset of an unregenerate, dead heart and the 2) mindset of a born-again, regenerate heart.
Based on Romans 8, the former is under condemnation. It thinks about the things of the flesh and death. It is hostile to God because it cannot submit to God’s law. It cannot please God. It has no sense of assurance that he or she belongs to Christ.
The latter is not not under condemnation. It thinks about the things of the Spirit as well as life and peace. It is not hostile to God. It submits to God’s law. It pleases God through his or her faith. It has assurance through the Spirit of adoption, which has been given as a free gift.
How does the Spirit actually help us to uproot sin in our lives? Is it by focusing on the sin, the darkness, the addiction, the stronghold? Or is it something else?
Watch this sermon clip by Pastor Tope Koleoso. When I first saw this a few weeks ago, it helped me immensely. It will radically change how you fight sin in your prayers.
