Text: Text: 2 Chron 7:11-22
Summary: It is time for the people of God in America and around the world to humble ourselves, to pray, to seek the face of God, and to wait for God to convict us of our sins personally and as a nation. If we meet these conditions, God promises to hear from heaven, to forgive our sins, and to heal our land.
2 Chronicles 7
11 Thus Solomon finished the house of the Lord and the king’s house. All that Solomon had planned to do in the house of the Lord and in his own house he successfully accomplished. 12 Then the Lord appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice. 13 When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, 14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place. 16 For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that my name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time. 17 And as for you, if you will walk before me as David your father walked, doing according to all that I have commanded you and keeping my statutes and my rules, 18 then I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with David your father, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man to rule Israel.’
19 “But if you turn aside and forsake my statutes and my commandments that I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them, 20 then I will pluck you up from my land that I have given you, and this house that I have consecrated for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples. 21 And at this house, which was exalted, everyone passing by will be astonished and say, ‘Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’ 22 Then they will say, ‘Because they abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore he has brought all this disaster on them.’”
Father, thank you for the word that you gave to me this past week. I pray that you give me courage to say it. If there’s anything that should not be said, I pray that you would help me to restrain. But whatever is from you, Lord, give me confidence and courage to say it. Lord, I give you this time. I give you my mouth. I surrender before you. And as your people, we humble ourselves and we pray, we seek your face, and we turn from our wicked ways. We trust that when we do so, you will hear from heaven, you will forgive our sins. And for America, we pray that you would heal our land. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen
In the midst of all the chaos of the election process, God gave me 2 Chronicles 7 starting in v.11. The key verse is 2 Chronicles 7:14. It says we are to humble ourselves and we are to pray. We are to seek the face of God. If there ever was a week that we should be seeking the face of God, it is this week in the year 2020. If you seek the face of God, and you don’t react out of your emotions, God will reveal things to you. In the midst of the election being up in the air, I don’t know how many of us sought the face of God and asked God, what are you doing? Why are you allowing this to happen? Why have you allowed COVID-19 to happen? All of the things that are mentioned in 2 Chronicles 7, the enemies, the locusts, and the pestilence, God is now answering the prayer that Solomon prayed in 2 Chronicles 6. He tells Solomon and the people of God to humble themselves, to turn from their wicked ways, to pray, and to seek the face of God.
Then God says He will tell you why all of the trouble that you’re experiencing is happening to you. As Americans in this country, it is very uncommon what we are experiencing. The last time we were in this kind of a chaotic election being up in the air and things having to go to the Supreme Court was in the year 2000 between Bush and Gore. When we are in a season of chaos, when many people are speaking on both sides and there’s a lot of emotion that’s stirred, we have to acknowledge that the emotion is a lot of times not sanctified. A lot of times it’s fleshly emotions. Now I know why the Lord last week was telling us in advance to crucify our flesh with all of its passions and desires.
The word for passion is emotion, we need to crucify it. Rather than reacting and looking at views that confirm our emotions, we should humbly lay down our flesh, crucify it, lay down our emotions, seek the face of God humbly, and say, Lord, what are you doing? Why are you allowing this to happen? And He will give answers to us. Another interesting verse that the Lord gave to me was Luke 23:11. It’s one of those verses we gloss over, but it is such an interesting verse.
Luke 23
11 And Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him. Then, arraying him in splendid clothing, he sent him back to Pilate. 12 And Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before this they had been at enmity with each other.
Isn’t that interesting that evil men when they have a common agenda to mock, ridicule, beat up and eventually crucify Jesus, these opposing factions who are both evil will come together as friends? And that is what we are seeing in our world. As far as I can tell, we have different factions of evil and all of them have different agendas. With regards to sexual orientation or race wars, there are different factions at work or governments that want to promote communistic ideologies and socialistic ideals.
And these organizations are different factions of evil with different agendas but at the core, when you dig down deep enough, it is the same agenda. They are moving us toward a one world anti-Christ kingdom. And at the heart of it, they hate Christians. They want to crucify Christ again publicly. They want to round up Christians, persecute, and crucify Christians. You have to see at a spiritual level these different factions of evil are joining forces. It’s odd that one evil group is joining forces with another evil group because they have nothing in common, except they have one common thing. They have a common hatred for Christ and Christians.
We know the end game of evil. They have different second-tier agendas that they want to achieve, but the main agenda we know is clear. The endgame is clear. And they will unite for that same common endgame. I want to say that Christians are really bad at uniting. We’re really bad at uniting. Even though Jesus’ prayer in John 17 is that all Christians worldwide would unite into one universal church of God. Christians, we are very bad at uniting. We see it in election season.
I think Christians are really bad at uniting because we think we’re people of principle. If we feel strongly about a certain idea, a biblical principle, a doctrine, and we call ourselves people of principle, that we can’t be bought off, and we’re not going to soften on this thing. So we dig our heels into the ground and we judge other people who don’t agree with us, even in the Church of God. All the while, Herod and Pilate are becoming friends while persecuting Christ, evil factions worldwide are joining forces out of their common hatred for Christians at the core, and they are moving us toward a one world anti-Christ system. Christians, we need to come together.
As Christians, we need to come together. That means, as much as you feel your emotions are so strong, do not put your emotions on social media. Don’t put it in a place where at least half of the brothers and sisters of Christ will be against your position. Let’s not do that. Let’s not promote division in the body of Christ. Let’s hold our positions lightly. Let’s not react out of emotion. Let’s not post out of emotion, especially when the election is up in the air. We should be coming together uniting. As people of God who are humbling themselves, praying and seeking the face of God, that’s what we should be uniting in. Turning from our wicked ways, that’s what we should be uniting in. Not casting stones on fellow brothers and sisters who disagree with us.
It says in Galatians 2:24 to crucify our flesh with its passions and desires. If you’re not crucified, the emotions that will come out will be carnal. It is a carnal mind that puts together the facts according to your mind. If you don’t have the mind of Christ, you will just put together facts because you’re a smart person. You will look at things that stir your emotion in a certain direction. And then you promote your position on social media. That is the last thing that Christians should be doing. We should be putting aside our mind, putting aside our carnality, putting aside our carnal emotions. Instead we need to be seeking the face of God and asking for the mind of Christ. Another amazing set of verses the Lord gave me is in 1 Corinthians 2.
1 Corinthians 2
14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. 16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
If you’re a natural, carnal person, you trust in your intellect and your ability to lay all the facts on the table and land on a conviction. If you feel so strongly about it and you didn’t even consult the Lord, I want to say your carnal. Because as spiritual people, all of our positions have to be spiritually inspired, right? To have the mind of Christ means you’ve put down your carnality, including your mind and your intellect and your emotions. You’ve crucified all of your passions and desires. Instead, you’ve humbled yourself, you’ve prayed, and you’ve sought the face of the Lord.
Ask the Lord before reacting, what are you doing in America during election 2020? Why have you allowed this chaos, Lord? You must be up to something. It didn’t have to happen this way. Why is this happening? We should be asking the Lord and saying, give me the mind of Christ. Instruct me, give me spiritual understanding. We should be doing this about everything. And so I want to call Christians all over the world, let’s unite. Evil is uniting right before our eyes and Christians are standing divided. Christians, we have to unite as evil unites. Christians, we need to unite all the more under the headship of Christ, seeking the mind of Christ, seeking the face of the Lord, and asking Him, what are you doing in our world?
Amos 3
7 For the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.
Did you know that? While most people in the world who are not Christians, of course, they are clueless as to what the Lord is doing. Even in the body of Christ, if you’re not prophetically gifted, you may also wonder, what are you doing, Lord? But there is a small subset of brothers and sisters in the body of Christ, that we should turn to in times like this and say, prophetically gifted brother, prophetically gifted sister, can you give me a hand because I want to know what the Lord is doing? God says He doesn’t do anything until first He communicates to His servants the prophets.
And already there’s division in the body of Christ because some people in the body of Christ will say, I don’t associate with prophetically gifted people. I’m a reformed person and all I need is the Word of God. Well, the Word of God doesn’t tell us what is happening in the year 2020. Some people say, well, I don’t believe in the gifts of the Spirit and so I will not fellowship with you. You’re too radical in your giftings, I won’t fellowship with you. You don’t respect the authority of God’s Word, I’m not going to fellowship with you. We have all kinds of reasons to divide.
I want to invite all Christians worldwide, let’s unite. Evil is uniting before eyes. How much more should the body of Christ unite. I’m not a prophet, but I am humble enough to acknowledge my limitation and I will consult prophetically gifted people. I will research and find prophetically gifted people to see what they’re saying and pray about it. Even if you’re not prophetically gifted, you have the Spirit of God in you and your spirit has been made alive in Christ.
So when you hear somebody say, thus saith the Lord as confidently as if it’s written in Scripture, and they’re talking about current events, you have a chance to evaluate that word. Your spirit will either say, well, that’s weird. I don’t need to pray about that anymore. Or you will say, okay, that’s interesting. Let me pray about it. And that’s what we should do as people who may not be spiritually gifted or prophetically gifted. We should humbly seek out what they are saying.
There are so many people you can find online even if you don’t know someone personally. You can research and see what they’re saying and if these prophets are lining up. If they’re beginning to line up, then you say, okay, this is interesting and I should pray about it. And then as you pray about it, your spirit in you and the Holy Spirit will either agree or disagree with what you’re hearing. That’s what we should do as the Body of Christ. That’s how we can be united as the Body of Christ, even about things that maybe on our own we would not have been able to discern.
Things have to be discerned spiritually. A natural man cannot discern. Even a spiritual person without a prophetic gift may not be able to discern, but as we come together and unite, we can collectively have discernment. We can come together and say, this is what the Lord is doing. I can be at peace. As long as I know what God is doing, I can be at peace. Whether I agree with it or not or I like it or not emotionally, I can be at peace because the Lord is giving advanced warning that this is what it’s going to be. Either it is going to be some years of peace coming ahead, or it’s going to be some years of turmoil. But if we know in advance, at least there can be a common understanding and we can be at peace. We can brace ourselves for whatever trouble may come.
I am not a prophet but as I search out prophets, I am finding an incredible unity among the prophets of God. Of course I can’t find all the prophets. I’ve only found a subset of them, and ones that I have already been listening to for years. God has confirmed among the prophets and as I pray, my spirit says, there’s some truth here. And it confirms things I already felt from years ago. I want to share some of that with you.
The word that God gave to me personally this week is unfinished business. There’s some unfinished business in our country that God wants to finish. Before 2015, I was not interested in politics. Right out of college, just too busy with life, went on missions, was part of an unhealthy church, and so politics was not on my radar at all. The first time I voted was in 2008 when Obama was running. Interestingly, one of the teachers at my boys’ school was asking people who their parents voted for, and my boys said Obama in 2008. Then she made a comment and said, Oh, I thought they were Christian. Why did they vote for Obama? It’s kind of an offensive thing but I didn’t think too much of it.
But the Lord reminded me of that word. I look back and realize I was swept up in emotion. As the first black man and I’m a minority, and he spoke so smoothly. He seemed so likable. He just came out of nowhere. No one knew him before he started running for president, just an unknown senator. And suddenly, you have those lines, change is on the way, and there’s hope, and there were those awesome colorful pictures with his face, and I got swept up in the emotion. The Lord reminded me this week, you didn’t pray before you voted for Obama. So what that teacher said is actually true. I thought he was Christian. Meaning, shouldn’t I have prayed before just deciding with my carnal mind and with my emotion which just loved the fact that our first minority president might be elected.
So before 2015, I wasn’t interested in politics. But if you recall, some of you were here, we opened up our church. I just felt in my spirit this is an important election, I didn’t care about politics but this one seemed important to me. So we opened up the church in the months leading up to the election and I was seeking the face of God about where our country was going. Two candidates which on paper, neither of them were people of character and it’s like, is this the best that America can produce, Trump and Hillary? This is terrible, Lord. Why is this happening in our country? Why are we in this predicament? We were just seeking the Lord together.
And the Lord began impressing upon me back in 2015 that Trump is going to be like Cyrus, and to me that was a weird thing. If you read Isaiah 45, it’s so odd that a man was prophesied, his name was written by the prophet Isaiah. Cyrus’ name is in Isaiah 44 and 45. And this was prophesied 150 years before Cyrus became the king of Persia. It is phenomenal the fact that this is a historical record. That God prophesied in advance and Isaiah the prophet knew in advance. One hundred fifty years before Cyrus came upon the scene, God already told the prophets what He was going to do.
If you read Isaiah 45, it’s clear that Cyrus doesn’t know the Lord. But just to show how in control God is, God says, I am going to raise up a pagan king, and somehow this pagan king who doesn’t even know me is going to be favorable toward the people of God. After they come out of Babylonian captivity and everything is in ruins, this pagan king is going to allow the people of God to rebuild the temple and to resume worship again. Just an amazing prophetic word that came true.
I was confused. Why Cyrus and Trump? Why are those two names coming together in my spirit? And of course, as I was praying I felt more and more strongly that Trump was going to become our president, and I even said to my family who was badgering me at the time,I said he’s going to win in a landslide. I don’t know why I said that, but it’s just coming out.
It dawned on me later through some other preachers that I was listening to that Trump was the 45th president and Cyrus was Isaiah 45, the Lord is so precise. The Lord is so precise. If you bring every decision before the Lord, if you bring current events before the Lord, and you inquire of prophetically gifted people and you say, what is the Lord doing in whatever year that you’re in, it is amazing what the Lord will communicate, if we just humble ourselves, pray, and seek the face of God.
Some Christians say, I can not vote for Trump based on character. I want to say, well, let’s get character off the table. Trump didn’t have character, Hillary didn’t have character. Trump doesn’t have character now, Biden doesn’t have character now. Let’s get that off the table because let’s redefine what character is first of all. Some people think good character means you’re polished in your speech. To me, that’s not a definition of good character. I could be so nice to you, so courteous to you when you see me on a Sunday, but behind your back, I could be slandering you, thinking ill of you, I could be working behind the scenes for your ill. Would that be a person of character if I was just polished on stage before a camera? No, that’s not character.
Our politicians are polished, that doesn’t mean they are people of character. Rather than just trusting when the media says, here’s character and this is not character, rather than trusting, we should discern and with our own critical mind, start looking into each person and if you do a little bit of research, you will see right away. The last election, both candidates didn’t have character. Right now, both candidates still lack character tremendously. So this is not an election based on character. This is discerning the Lord and what He wants.
I was looking at the map of elections. It’s interesting how it’s all red for the most part in the country. And then you have the centers of democratic control, which are the cities. Who goes to the cities? It is those who are educated. I don’t think that’s by accident. Those who are educated, we go into the cities with the big name jobs, and we so much trust our intellect. When other intellectual people that we trust give us information, without doing our own homework, we will just by emotion take that as truth. That’s why the educated people gathered in cities are actually so easy to manipulate.
I was swept up in emotion for the 2008 election and I voted for Obama. Now looking back over the eight years of his administration, you can see the damage that he did in our country. Whether you agree with his policy decisions or not, I’m just talking spiritually. You can see the damage that he did spiritually to our land. The main agenda that he accomplished which was barely even on the radar before he took office was the LGBTQ agenda and forcing it upon our children. Now it is everywhere. Our land has been defiled by the spirits that were allowed in because the king, the president, had that position.
If you look at the Old Testament, the nation either has peace and prosperity, or terrible judgment based on the top person. Whoever we elect, it has a direct bearing on the spiritual landscape of the land. So we just have to acknowledge that under the eight years of Obama, spiritually we were darkened. We became a darker country spiritually and more divided than ever before. If you’re reacting emotionally, I want you to take these comments to the prayer closet, and say, is this true Lord? Don’t take it just because I say it, take it to the Lord. Ask, are we better off spiritually after Obama than before, or did we get worse after he took office? I want to say we got worse. Smooth talking is not character.
Unfinished business, that’s what the Lord gave me. As I was asking more, what does it mean, Lord? Obama was God’s choice. Trump was God’s choice. Just because God chooses doesn’t mean it is a positive thing, right? God allowed it. Whoever is elected, it’s God’s choice. If Biden is elected, it’s God’s choice. So whether you agree with the choice or not, in the end it’s always God’s choice. He has the final veto. He has the final answer. Even though we got darkened, we should ask, why did you allow Obama to become president? What were we not doing as a people where that was allowed, where you allowed it to happen?
Everything we see in Scripture, such as when Solomon was asking in 2 Chronicles 6 why is pestilence happening, Lord? Or why is the rain shut up in the sky? Scientists will say it’s climate change. No, it’s the Lord who shuts up the heavens. So when there is a drought because the rain stopped, it is because the Lord has stopped it. We should ask the Lord why is there drought, why is there famine, why is there pestilence? When we fought this army and we lost, and we had to go back in defeat, why did that happen?
See, the people of God always take current events, they always take what’s happening in their daily circumstances, they bring it to the Lord and they ask, why. Why is this happening? That is a people who humble themselves, pray and seek the face of God. We should be doing that. So why did you allow Obama to be president? Why did you elect Trump to be president? Why are you allowing this chaos in 2020? We should always be bringing our current day circumstances, seek the face of the Lord, and say why is this happening?
Unfinished business. As far as I can discern, this is just me paying attention, praying about it, feeling some confirmation in my spirit, but it’s not God telling me this is exactly what’s going to transpire. I do believe Trump is going to be reelected in the Supreme Court. It’s going to be dragged on for some time, but I think it will happen. I felt strongly that Trump would be elected in 2016. The unfinished business has to do with tech censorship, free speech, and saving the children.
It is surprising to me in a supposedly free country that censorship is happening on our largest platforms. It is expected in China. You expect that in North Korea or Russia. You expect that in communist countries or in militant Islamic countries. But you don’t expect that in America. I thought there was freedom. I thought there was liberty. I thought everyone had freedom of speech. I thought everyone could express their opinion. It’s shocking to me, whether you like Trump or not, and this is not a comment about his character because I don’t agree with a lot of things he says and tweets, but what shocks me is that as the most powerful person in our country, he can be censored. It surprises me. It shocks me.
If the most powerful person in our country and arguably in the world can be censored, what chance do you and I stand? We just want to live a quiet life, we’re not trying to run for office, we’re not trying to gain a following, we’re just trying to express our opinions in a civil way. As preachers of the gospel, we want protections to be able to preach out against things that are displeasing to God and we want to defend the Bible and what God says in His Word. We’re not even talking about biblical stuff, we’re seeing just conservative values under attack.
If the most powerful person in our country and arguably in the world is under attack, what chance do you and I have as citizens, and not even as Christians but just conservatives, who want to have a voice? The other non-conservative liberal people, they can say whatever they want, and they’re never censored. You can say I love Satan, you will never get censored. You can say, Allah is great, you will never be censored. You can say Jehovah’s Witness is the true religion, you’ll never get censored. You can say Scientology is true, you’ll never get censored.
The one thing that will get censored is Christ. Evil will join forces, like they did in Jesus’s day when Herod and Pilot, arch enemies and rivals, were coming together because they had a common enemy, which was their hatred for Jesus. Evil before our eyes is coming together because they hate Christians. They’re not going to target Christians right away. They’re moving the needle ever so slightly. For now it is attacking conservative values and opinions. Eventually they’re coming after us. If the president cannot be protected from this type of censorship, what chance do you and I have?
I pray God deals with the censorship and He restores freedom of speech. That means anybody should be able to speak, even if I disagree with you, you should have the freedom to say whatever you want to say. Of course for Christians, we should be a little more careful. We don’t want to cause unnecessary division among people. We don’t want to promote division in the body of Christ because we stand on one side, versus brothers and sisters who might stand on the other side. So as Christians we want to be careful.
But as citizens of a supposedly free country, we want to have freedom to express our opinions without the fear of being censored or penalized or our business being shut down. And if the most powerful person in our country can be shut down, how can you and I stand a chance against these tech giants? Part of what I hope God is doing is this unfinished business of restoring freedom of speech, and regulating these tech platforms so that they are truly neutral platforms. Instead of editing out content because then they’re sensationalist newspapers promoting a certain narrative, that’s not a platform, that’s propaganda. A platform should be neutral and free to all people. So I pray God is doing that. I pray that is a part of the unfinished business that He will finish in the next four years or however long it takes. He’s going to restore freedom of speech in this country.
The other one is children. Jesus loves the little children. Jesus loves the little children so much so that when little children, even infants are being brought to the feet of Jesus, while all the disciples and people in the crowd are shooing them away, Jesus says, let them come. God loves the little children, even the infants. Children are the greatest in the kingdom of God. It says in Psalm 139 that God’s heart is for even the unborn, as they are being knit together in the mother’s womb. That’s how much God chooses people before the foundation of the world. He calls people by name. He even fills the fetuses in the womb with the Holy Spirit as He did with John the Baptist. God loves the children, even the unborn children who are growing in the mother’s womb.
Because God so loves the children, guess what Satan hates? He hates the little children. Satan has always been coming after the little children. Throughout Scripture we see it. Pharaoh hated the children. Out of his jealousy and feeling threatened by the growing number of God’s people, he wanted to destroy the Hebrew babies. He knew that they could one day rise up against him. And Moses would be that deliverer raised up among them. So out of his fear, Pharaoh wiped out an entire generation of Hebrew children.
That happened in Herod’s day out of jealousy. Who is this Christ who is going to be raised up and become the new king of the Jews? Out of his jealousy, Herod just wipes out an entire generation of Hebrew boys. Satan hates the children. He always has. He always will. Because God loves the children. If you are a Christian and you’re voting Democrat, I want to ask you to pray once again and discern. The Democratic Party that we knew decades ago is not the Democratic Party of today. There has been a shift. And I want you to discern and ask yourself a simple question. If you voted for Biden, there’s no judgment. But I just want to ask you to look back the same way that I looked back when I voted for Obama. Did you pray before you cast the ballot and did God tell you that He wants Biden? Or did you just do it with emotion? Did you do it just because other people in your circle are saying, they’re voting this way? Did you pray, did you humble yourself, did you seek the face of God, and did God tell you, this is the man I have for this country?
In the past, it might have been murky. To me now, it is so crystal clear. You may say elections are not about one single issue. But I think it actually is. It is abortion. If there is a single principle that should guide the Christian, it’s God’s love for the children. It’s actually such a facade when people talk about people caring for people of color and for women’s rights, but you don’t care for the unborn. It is intellectually dishonest and illogical. To say I care for people but while you’re defenseless and innocent, I will kill you. Did you know that when certain laws were passed in states, I think it was in New York or Virginia, where they now allow into the 9th month to kill babies? Because that’s what it is, it is killing. It’s nothing else. It’s not women’s choice. Let’s not sugarcoat it, it is murder. Did you know that when that law was passed in some states in the courthouse, people stood up to cheer? That is so wicked. How wicked can that be that people are saying that if the baby survives out of the womb, you can kill that baby, that you can let that baby die? That’s not women’s choice. Let’s call it what it is. It’s murder.
Satan hates what God loves the most. God loves the children and says, these little ones are the greatest and I love them. Even while they’re in the womb, I’ve called them. Before the foundation of the world, I know who they are. Don’t you think God knows all the pain and all the horror of the murders of hundreds and millions, in this country alone because of abortion? All the other issues are smoke screens. This one is one of the biggest. You might think Pharaoh and the Egyptians are so barbaric. You might think Herod in the 1st century is so barbaric. We think we’re so civilized now, but we’ve made such sanitized versions of what we call barbarism. We’ve just called it Planned Parenthood. We’ve made it into a system.
When God talks about various pagan rituals like sacrificing children to Molech, we think it stopped, but it hasn’t stopped. These pagan rituals at the highest level still happen. There are Satanic worshipers who still sacrifice babies. The innocents are being killed by the millions. And they are delighting in their pagan ritual. It is a pagan ritual that has been sanitized. Nothing has changed. Nothing is new under the sun. The same evil that we read about in Scripture is happening right under our noses, if you just had eyes to see.
And so one of the things I believe is the unfinished business is saving the children. The Supreme Court Justice nominees, who are against abortion and who are pro-life I think is one of the greatest things that we can pray for as a people of God. We can pray for a repealing of Roe vs. Wade. We can pray for God to put righteous judges over our land who will put righteous laws in our land. These Supreme Court Justices will be in power long after the current president is in power. We should be praying for God to protect the innocents.
We should be repenting on behalf of all the sins of this country that has happened for decades. It’s part of why we’re seeing 2020 COVID-19, pestilence worldwide and in this country and why we’re seeing lock downs. You have to discern, lockdowns are not everywhere. Why is there a lockdown only in these states? You have to discern. Why are the democratic states for the most part, I could be wrong but I think it’s all democratic. Why are we only locked down in some states? The virus doesn’t travel state borders? It’s not logical.
Why does God allow pestilence? Because whether it’s directly from God or through some mutation in nature or whether it’s a bioweapon, whatever the case is, God has the final veto. And God has allowed it. So why has this pestilence of COVID-19, and maybe next year COVID 20 and then COVID 21 or 22. I think they’re just going to add a different number at the end of COVID, a different version number, and there’s going to be new ones coming in the future. We have to ask the Lord why He is allowing it because He has the final veto.
I go back to the fact that Satan is the ruler of this world. He is like a lion who’s seeking to devour us but he has no teeth. He can lie to you. He can try to chew on you with his gums. It’s just going to be annoying, you can just shrug him off. He can’t really inflict any kind of pain upon you that’s long lasting. You can easily cast him out of your life. As soon as the real Lion of Judah appears and He has real teeth, He roars, and this fake, counterfeit lion will be put back into his place. So yes, Satan is the ruler of this age, but God has final veto power.
When things are happening like COVID-19 in the year 2020, and this election chaos that’s happening currently, we bring these matters to the Lord and ask him, why is it happening? The same way that Solomon asked in 2 Chronicles 6. When this happens, we’re going to pray to the Lord and He will answer. God says in 2 Chronicles 7, yes, when the rain has stopped, it is because I stopped it. You’re asking me and because you’ve humbled yourself, you’ve prayed, you’re seeking my face, you’re trying to understand why, then I will reveal to you your wickedness.
Did you notice that humbling, praying, and seeking God’s face precedes turning from our wickedness in 2 Chronicles 14? Many times we don’t even know what we should repent of. We don’t even know why things are happening. We’re a righteous person in an unrighteous land and we don’t know why things are happening to our land or in this world. We don’t know what we should repent of because we’ve personally repented, but are there other things that were hidden? Things that we’re blind to that we should be repenting of? Are there things in our land that we should be repenting of?
We should humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face first, then God will reveal the wickedness, either personally, or in your land what you should repent of. So I want to invite us, let’s repent of all of the deaths of the innocents over decades that have been allowed and we’ve been so silent. We haven’t repented. We should have been praying on our knees for our country. Whenever we pray for our country, we should have prayed, Lord, forgive America for killing our babies. Those two should have gone hand and hand. Whenever we prayed for America, we should have said, Lord, forgive us Americans, for allowing this to happen for so long, the killing of our babies.
2 Chronicles 7
14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.
What these two verses tell us is God’s eyes and ears are not always open to the prayers of His people. There are many prayers that He doesn’t hear. There are many prayers that His eyes do not see because this promise is conditional. The focus is God’s people. When we’re seeing this pestilence in America, when we’re seeing election chaos in America, what Christians in America should be realizing is that God is looking at us. He’s looking at people called by God’s name who are Christian, who bear the name of Christ. God is looking at us.
If we Christians in America humble ourselves, pray, and seek the face of God, then God will tell us, on behalf of America, here is your list of wickedness. We repent on behalf of America, personally and on behalf of our land. Then God says He will hear, He will forgive, and He will heal our land. God says He will open up His eyes to us. God says His ears will be attentive. It’s a conditional answer to prayer, if we humble ourselves, pray, and seek the face of God. God tells us our wickedness, we repent of our wickedness, then God begins to give revelation. I think that’s how it works.
I want to invite you this week until COVID-19 lifts. Let’s pray on behalf of this land. Let’s seek the face of God. Let’s humble ourselves, come together, unite in prayer. The people of God should be coming together uniting in prayer, humbling ourselves, being united in humility, seeking the face of God, asking why is COVID-19 still on our land. Why has it not been dealt with? And then you want to wait for God’s answer. When He will put COVID-19 in our past, when He will open things back up again hopefully. That’s how we bring our circumstances to the Lord, we seek His face and we’re waiting for the answer.
While we’re waiting, we’re repenting. We’re turning from our wickedness. If it’s not something we can control, we’re praying on behalf of America until the laws change in America so that we can be a godly nation. Then God will heal our land again. For elections, let’s seek the face of God. Let’s not react with emotion. Let’s consult the prophets. Let’s do our own research. I don’t think it’s an issue about character because if you look into both candidates, you’ll find plenty of evidence that neither have character. Both are disqualified, if that’s how you’re going to do this. No, the way we do elections is to ask, Lord, what do you want? Who is your choice?
Now we have more time to pray. Lord, who are you choosing? If it is Biden, so be it, I will take it on the chin, I was wrong. All the prophets were wrong. We should just humbly admit it. But if it is Trump, we should ask the Lord, why are you allowing it? Is there unfinished business? God allowed Trump in 2016, but if he’s done, then he’s done, he’s not going to be reelected. If he’s not done, there’s unfinished business. Could it be free speech in this country being restored? Could it be removing Roe vs. Wade?
Could it be the restoration of defending the little ones and saving the children? Do a little bit of research, look at how many indictments are being piled up dealing with children, specifically sex trafficking of children. In a typical year, it’s several hundred, several thousand. We’re talking about hundreds of thousands of cases, something is happening with the children. It just takes a little bit of research. Could it be that God wants to save the children in America and around the world? Let’s pray.
Lord, when we look at the mess that our country is in, the election and COVID-19, and the mess that we see in our world, we want to follow Solomon’s example. Even as wise as he was, he understood his place, that wisdom is a revelation and a gift that comes from above. And so even as the wisest person who ever lived, because it is a spiritual gift and answer to his prayer, he had the sense to humble himself and to pray when things were not going well in his kingdom. He had the sense to humble himself and pray and ask, Lord, why is this happening? He sought the face of God. And when God began to convict him and the people of their sin, they turned from their wickedness. And when they turned the pestilence was healed. When they turned, the enemy was defeated, when they turned, peace and prosperity was restored. The land was healed.
So many times we prayed for COVID-19 all throughout the year but for whatever reason, you have not answered it completely yet, Lord. You have not healed our land in America or around the world, yet this pestilence has not been dealt with. And so Lord, we want to ask you why. What evil, what wickedness are we not repenting of, Lord? Show it to us please. Show it to us, Lord. We pray that you will show us why this chaos in our election is happening right before our eyes. We don’t want to react with emotion, carnality, our own mind, or our own intellect, we put these things down. We crucify them. Give us the mind of Christ to discern things spiritually.
Father, as we bring all of these things to you, we trust that you’ve already spoken to your prophets and you will continue to speak to your prophets. We pray that the prophets would speak to the wider body of Christ. And as we listen, we will know who the true prophets are because our spirit will be in agreement of what we hear. And in the end, whether that prophetic word comes to pass or not, is the final judge of whether that prophet is true or false. And Lord, to the best of our ability, we want to take in what other people in the body of Christ are saying who have different gifts than us.
We want to have discernment as we come together and pray. We trust that you’ve given us enough of the Holy Spirit. You’ve awakened our spirit enough, and if not, we pray that you awaken it now, Lord. We pray that you awaken our spirits so that we can have the same discernment. It’ll be a universal discernment, a universal common discernment in the Body of Christ worldwide. We will know why things are happening. Lord, we ask for COVID-19 pestilence to be healed from our land and our world once and for all.
We ask, O Lord, for this election chaos to be resolved peacefully with justice, not just words, but with evidence. We pray that it will be judged by the highest courts in our land, the Supreme Court, as it was in the year 2000. May it also happen so that without a shadow of a doubt, everyone would be convinced that it was done fairly, Lord. Whoever you pick, Lord, whether we agree or not, we know it’s your choice. So Lord when that final answer is given, we want to bring it before you and ask why, Lord. If it’s Trump, why, Lord? Is there unfinished business, are you not done with him yet? If you’re done with him, why is it Biden? What new thing are you going to do? Or what terrible thing are you allowing?
Lord, we ask humbly. You have the final veto. Satan is deceiving but he is a lion without teeth. Lord, you have the final veto. One day Jesus will come as the true Lion of Judah. Lord, we pray that the Lion of Judah would meet us as we partake in your Lord’s Supper. Please give us your peace and your courage. We pray that you give us discernment in these confusing and chaotic days. We pray for the uniting in the Body of Christ around the Lion of Judah, the Head of the Church.
We thank you for dying for us. We see that moments before you were crucified, evil was uniting against you. We know that right before you come back a second time, evil will unite against the people of God. And so we want to brace ourselves. We see it unfolding before our eyes. Give us courage in these last days. The same ferocity of the Lion of Judah, may you plant it in our hearts. The devil can come but he has no teeth. We’re not afraid of what evil will try to do. We’re untouchable because we are people of faith. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen
