In case you were wondering what Francis Chan is up to since stepping down from Cornerstone, here is a quick update…
Thought I’d give a quick update on what’s been going on in my life…
Packing up… I spent much of the day packing up my office. I had no idea it would be such an emotional experience. It was a bit overwhelming to dig through 16 years of sermon notes, pictures, and books. It allowed me to reflect on lots of good memories.
Grace… On Sunday, I spoke at Cornerstone Santa Clarita. I spoke about the grace of God (Galatians 1:3-4). I shared about my past failures in ministry and how God should have washed His hands of me twenty years ago. It’s only by the grace of God that I was able to be a part of such a fruitful ministry. Where would we be without His grace?
“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” Galatians 1:3-4
Grief… This past week has been a little rough for our family. Lisa went through her fourth miscarriage. We grieved as a family, but everyone is doing well. I have an amazing wife who can see the goodness of God even through times like this. Thanks for your prayers.
Alive… On a positive note, yesterday was an amazing day. After preaching in the morning, I spent the afternoon down in Watts with some leaders from various gangs. Spending time in some of the projects was exceptionally eye-opening for me. As they shared the needs of the communities, it caused me to get pretty excited about helping find solutions. It’s hard to explain how alive I feel in situations like that.
